County to explore moving Family Justice Center out of Solano DA’s Office

FAIRFIELD — Solano County Supervisor Jim Spering called “disturbing” the recent 2020-21 civil grand jury report on the Family Justice Center.

Spering, during the budget hearing Thursday, asked that the $721,000 in general fund contributions to the center be separated and managed in part by County Administrator Birgitta Corsello.

It is not fiscal mismanagement that has raised Spering’s concerns, but rather the grand jury report’s conclusion that the center “is not meeting” its mission, and that the Board of Supervisors should initiate a study to determine if the center should be transferred from the District Attorney’s Office to the Department of Health and Social Services.
