There were military and police color guards, police officers on motorcycles, a line of fire engines — their sirens loud enough to burst eardrums.
There were also moving phalanxes of Corvettes and Mustangs, all-American cars by the dozens, beauty queens high up on a float, elected officials waving from Convertibles and more.
Fairfield’s Fourth of July Parade and Family Activities event Sunday was stirring and patriotic. It was also busy, with crowds surging to be part of the hot dog eating contest and other fun.
Before the parade kicked into gear the McGough family of Fairfield snagged a prime spot on Texas Street, their chairs set up just opposite the Old Solano Courthouse.
