VACAVILLE — The city’s annual Christmas celebration, Merriment on Main, will happen this year with no spectators.
The board of directors for the event announced Monday that the 2020 event would be a pared-back event, with a decorated and lit tree, as always.
The board called it another casualty of Covid-19.
“There is simply no way we can safely gather up to 15,000 people on Main Street and stand shoulder-to-shoulder to watch the tree lighting,” event organizers said in a press release. “Thus, it’s impossible to have a public ceremony or the typical program.”
