State tells residents 65+ to shelter in homes to protect against Covid-19

FAIRFIELD — The governor directed all residents who are 65 or older Sunday to begin home isolation to help prevent them from being exposed to the new coronavirus and possibly contracting Covid-19.

Gov. Gavin Newsom designated the state’s 5.3 million senior citizens as among the most at-risk in terms of the severity of the new disease within the older population.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2019 population estimates indicate that 15.8 percent of Solano County’s 446,610 residents are 65 or older.
