FAIRFIELD — Solano County supervisors allocated $206,370 in state funding to support the Vallejo-Benicia Roomkey project that sets aside hotel rooms for homeless and other specific at-risk residents who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and need to be isolated but do not require hospitalization.
The funding will be funneled through the Community Action Partnership Solano Joint Powers Authority in order to meet state reporting requirements.
Supervisor Skip Thomson originally wanted the funds to go directly to the cities, and specifically cities that have worked with the county on homeless projects. While he did not specifically mention Vacaville, the supervisor has been an outspoken critic of the city and what he believes is an unremarkable homeless policy.
