Solano to turn businesses that skirt Covid-19 rules over to state

FAIRFIELD — Businesses in Solano County that receive three valid complaints for not complying with Covid-19 regulations are being turned over to a state task force for possible action.

Terry Schmidtbauer, the interim director of the Department of Resource Management, told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday that the action is new for the county. It comes at a time when Solano County is experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases and is receiving more and more complaints.

The announcement followed comments from Carol Kalamaras, past president of the California Retired Teachers Association, Division 24, of Solano County, who read a letter from the group’s executive board that sharply criticized the Board of Supervisors for failing to enforce the Covid-19 regulations.

Vacaville Allows Businesses To Operate Outdoors On Vacant City Property

VACAVILLE (CBS13) – The Vacaville city council will allow certain businesses to operate at city-owned properties.

Businesses like gyms, places of worship, and barbershops in 29 California counties were told to cease indoor operations on July 13. That meant some businesses with outdoor space nearby could continue to operate, but others without that space were left without options.

Those businesses are now permitted to use parks, vacant areas, and vacant private parking lots to work.

Coronavirus: Vacaville City Council to consider outdoor operations for certain businesses

Certain businesses prohibited from operating due to California’s stay-at-home order might be able to run their business outdoors of the Vacaville City Council approves a resolution at its Tuesday meeting.

As coronavirus cases continued to rise by March, Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order suspending a variety of businesses from operating to stop the spread of the virus, including indoor malls, barbershops, gyms, movie theaters, bars, museums and more. In May, restrictions were relaxed in Solano County, allowing more businesses to open up.

However, with a new surge in cases starting in June, Newsom issued a new order July 1 directing bars and indoor operations of restaurants and museums to close as Solano was put on a state “watch list.” Twelve days later, he ordered additional closures of indoor operations for gyms, hair salons, barbershops, personal care services, malls and places of worship.

Solano says businesses set to open Friday can open when ready

FAIRFIELD — Solano County is letting numerous businesses – to include wineries, breweries, bars, hotels, fitness centers and family entertainment venues – that were scheduled to open Friday to open immediately if they have proper health and safety protocols in place.

That includes submitting the online plan from the county website indicating what steps are being taken to mitigate the possible spread of Covid-19. It also means those protocols will be posted on-site or can be made available to anyone who asks for them.

Added to that list of businesses with a green light are movie theaters, though restrictions will limit how many people would be allowed in at any given time.
