Fairfield, Vacaville voters to say ‘yah,’ ‘nay’ on pot taxes in November
FAIRFIELD — Cannabis business owners in Fairfield would be charged what amounts to a 6% sales tax on gross receipts for retail operations, and business taxes on the type of business and square footage of their operations if voters pass Measure C in November.
The ballot measure reads:
“Shall the ordinance imposing a cannabis business tax be adopted with the city taxing cannabis or hemp businesses at annual rates not to exceed $10 per canopy square foot for cultivation (adjustable for inflation), 6% of gross receipts for retail cannabis businesses, and 4% for all other cannabis businesses which is expected to generate an estimated $237,500 to $360,000 annually and will be levied until repealed by the voters or the City Council?”
Vacaville voters will decide on a similar initiative, Measure V, with the same tax assessments.
