FAIRFIELD — Air quality officials issued the first smog alert of the season Sunday that’s effective Monday for southwestern Solano County and the greater Bay Area region.
The alert coincides with a warning about excessive heat that’s in place Monday and Tuesday for the Bay Area and Sacramento regions and a separate air pollution warning for much of eastern Solano County.
Air quality is expected to be unhealthy across the vast majority of Solano County. Light winds and hot temperatures, along with vehicle exhaust, are creating elevated concentrations of ozone, more commonly known as smog.
