VACAVILLE — The Academy of 21st Century Learning partnered Wednesday with the Solano County Library and the Joyful Art Studio for a Literacy Awareness Night at the Nut Tree Plaza.
The idea was to promote literacy for children on National Literacy Day.
“It’s one of our global challenges where we can really make a difference and take part locally,” said Erin Dwyer, the vice president of operations at the academy. “Through literacy, we can create a better society for all of us.”
The library had a table to give parents and children information about their services. They were also signing up those who needed library cards. Cristie Barron, meanwhile, of the Joyful Art Studio, was showing children how to decorate book marks with a variety of painting supplies.
