Vacaville Private School Plans For On-Campus Instruction To Begin School Year

VACAVILLE (CBS13) – Vacaville Christian Schools said it is planning to reopen with full-time on-campus instruction when the school year begins later this month.

Head of School Ben Davis said in a letter to the community that he feels confident in the anticipated Aug. 24 school start date. In his letter, Davis also covered the topic of face coverings.

“We also understand that wearing face masks has created quite a bit of concern amongst families in our community,” he said. “VCS will only require face masks if it is mandated and only to the extent needed to meet minimum county and state requirements. We will partner as much as possible with families who are not comfortable with face masks should this county requirement be in place.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom allows reopening outdoor hair salons, nail salons amid coronavirus pandemic

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a change in the rules for hair salons and other beauty services in a Monday press conference on the coronavirus pandemic.

While hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, massage parlors and other beauty services have to close indoor operations in counties on the state’s watch list, they’re now allowed to move some services outdoors.

The guidelines for outdoor hair salons and barbershops include:

    • Employees and customers have to wear masks the entire time
    • Create an outdoor reception area where guests can check in
    • No handshakes, hugs or similar greetings

County libraries prepare for phased reopenings

Solano County Library is preparing for a phased reopening of its library branches, which have been closed since March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Below are the important dates related to the resuming of in-person services.  These dates are subject to change:

Monday, June 15, 2020: Solano County Library will begin reopening with its three large branches:  the Fairfield Civic Center Library, John F. Kennedy Library, and Vacaville Public Library- Cultural Center.

Monday, June 29, 2020:  The Dixon Public Library and Rio Vista Library will reopen.

Monday, July 13, 2020: The following branches will reopen: Fairfield Cordelia Library, Suisun City Library, and Vacaville Public Library- Town Square.

Monday, July 27, 2020: The Springstowne Library is scheduled to reopen for in-person services.

The Law Library reopening is yet to be determined; it will be based on the reopening of the county courts.
