Vacaville council hears voices of homeless; city supporters

VACAVILLE — More than a dozen homeless residents and a handful of advocates told the City Council on Tuesday that Vacaville needs more shelter space.

There were others who backed what the city is doing now, including Mayor Ron Rowlett, who opened the public comment period with a prepared statement.

His message is the city has dedicated significant resources – $1.6 million in ongoing costs and $4 million in one-time expenditures – toward the homelessness issue in the city.
