Vacaville to keep McBride center open through Friday as temps, smoke rise

VACAVILLE — The city announced Monday it will keep the McBride Senior Center open as a cooling center through Friday as Vacaville finds itself in a two-week stretch of daily temperatures reaching 100 degrees or higher.

The run of century-mark days started Thursday when the high was 103 degrees. The hottest day during that stretch was 111 Saturday, though Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s highs are expected to be 110 degrees, according to Accuweather.com.

The average high for those 14 days is 94.43 degrees.

Vacaville uses the weather station at the Nut Tree Airport and the National Weather Service out of Sacramento for the data upon which it makes its decisions about the McBride center.
