Wildfire smoke remains a concern as Solano again under air pollution warning for smog

FAIRFIELD — Officials on Labor Day extended an air pollution warning for unhealthy levels of smog through Tuesday across much of Solano County.

The warning, known as a Spare the Air Alert, was in place Sunday and Monday. The smog warning was initially expected to lapse after a single day.

A lesser air pollution advisory for the three-day Labor Day holiday weekend – driven by overhead smoke from Northern California wildfires – was extended Monday to include Tuesday.

Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to continue to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation across Solano County and the region, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District reports. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to affect the region as well, creating hazy and smoky skies.
